How Does Cambridge Trust Value its Team? Some clichés exist for good reasons. We know it’s a bit trite to say that our employees are the foundation of our success. It’s “quaint” to note that we work hard to show our appreciation for every member of our team because we value them not only as employees but as people. But it’s also very true.

We care about the Cambridge Trust team and work to build a culture and benefits program that supports them as employees and as individuals.

They do care about me as a person, my well-being, and my work-life balance, so I'm able to give the best I can at work, and then also give the best I can at home.

The Essence of Cambridge Trust

Our company rests on a foundation of six core values: Client Focus, Collaboration, Accountability, Innovation, Leadership, and Responsible Citizen.

We designed our employee benefits programs around these values so that our team feels empowered to live them out.

It Starts at the Top

Change needs a leadership ally. Dennis Sheahan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Trust has made this work a priority since joining the bank in 2015.

In his seven years at the helm, he has worked with the management team to infuse our culture with energy and a commitment to our community and our team. Together with their leadership, we have been able to implement innovative programs across our organization.

Committing to Financial Health

As a financial services organization, we particularly understand the desire of our employees to be financially secure and independent.

We work with our employees to build a strong financial future. We match employees' 401(k) contributions with an additional 4% regardless of their contribution. We also contribute annually to our employee stock ownership plan – creating a strong culture of commitment.

Additionally, our Compensation Committee oversees our company’s practices and programs to ensure we take no excessive risks.

Working to Live, Living to Work

Our company thrives when our people feel like they have balance.

We’ve adapted a flex-time approach to our hours to support employees’ work-life balance. We encourage everyone to coordinate with their managers to build practical schedules. Whether it’s non-traditional hours or hybrid work, we want them to find the balance that makes their lives easier.

We especially recognize the need for parents to bond and care for their new children. To give families a chance to connect during this precious time, we offer four weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of every child.

Caring for Yourself

Maintaining mental, physical, and emotional health is important. At Cambridge Trust, we’ve created a Wellness Committee charged with helping our employees get access to health resources.

The Committee meets monthly and organizes activities such as flu shots, heart health awareness month, and breast cancer awareness month. They also coordinate information sessions about how to donate blood, steps and hydration challenges, and mobile, on-site dentistry.

To ensure our employees have access to mental health support we offer an employee assistance and work-life program. It’s a free and confidential service for employees and adult household members that provides counseling, consultations, referrals, and information.

The program specifically helps in areas of emotional health, parenting, eldercare, legal, finance, work life, home life, and nutrition.

Building your Career

We want all everyone to feel valued and encouraged on their chosen career paths.

To this end, our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Committee works hard to help us become a more welcoming organization. The group has about 20 volunteers and three representatives from senior management who have candid discussions and explore issues that arise.

As a woman in the workplace, as a mom, as a co-worker, as a wife, as a sister, as a daughter - working at Cambridge trust has really been so fulfilling to me and I’m super passionate about it. I’d love to tell anyone more about Cambridge trust who’s interested in joining our inclusive organization.

We embed a culture of leadership across the company. We define leaders as individuals with integrity and a willingness to learn and adapt. We seek out team members who go above and beyond their roles and support others to succeed.

We’ve found that experiential learning and on-the-job experience are particularly helpful. So, we created an Executive Leadership Program for people at all levels of leadership. From employees named within succession plans for senior roles to emerging leaders in junior positions, we want to cultivate outstanding talent.

Building a Stronger Organization

Our people are our strongest asset. Every day we’re working to implement innovative programs to ensure every employee feels valued, supported, and encouraged.
