iZotope is an Emmy Award winning, industry leader in audio technology
headquartered in Cambridge. Founder and CEO Mark Ethier started the
business from his MIT dorm room in 2001. Their intelligent audio technology helps musicians, music producers, and audio post engineers focus on their craft rather than the tech behind it.
The Innovation Banking Group has been working with iZotope since 2019. We’re pleased with our role in helping such a dynamic and visionary technology company navigate their evolving growth and business challenges.
In March, iZotope agreed to be acquired by private equity firm Francisco
Partners, which will help them continue to grow and develop their technology.
iZotope CFO Tony Callini:
“We were pleasantly surprised by Cambridge Trust’s innovation economy
expertise, and their ability to be extremely flexible with a company like us.
We’re in-between, not a pure no-revenue venture startup nor an EBITDA later stage company. Most bankers don’t know how to deal with that.”
“We also needed to make investments to support the business model transition and Cambridge Trust were great partners in thinking this through. They did this all while they were in the weeds of PPP loan support to their client base and were completely flat out. They could have pushed us off, but they didn’t. They supported us and got the amendment for credit facility.”
“When we needed support from Cambridge Trust they were always there,
especially to support investors during our sale.”
